Puno’s Ice Cream

NUEVA ECIJA | Nueva Ecija’s Must Try Puno’s Ice Cream

Ice cream has become one of the most quintessential desserts to chomp during summer. In fact, a lot of shops and outlets are sprouting everywhere in the metro peddling this frozen dessert in different flavors.

Frozen desserts bring a special delight to everyone especially when you have it on your favorite flavor. The usual chocolate, ube and cheese flavors were extended to fruits such as mango, strawberry, and a lot more. Curiosity of people led to the discovery of bizarre yet appetizing ice cream flavors such as Sili, Malunggay, Tinutong na Rice, Calamansi, up to a more weird Sapin-Sapin, Champorado and Dilis, and Mangga with Bagoong Alamang.

On our visit to Nueva Ecija, we discovered another wide array of new ice cream flavors with our encounter with the famous local ice cream brand in the province, Puno’s Ice Cream. The place is already offering the frozen dessert to Novo Ecijanos for around six decades and now perfected the taste and quality of their products. They have 7 branches in Cabanatuan City, 17 scattered outlets around Nueva Ecija and even one in Baler, Aurora.

Some of the flavors are Buko Sherbet with Lychees, Ube Cheese, Strawberry, Fruit Salad, and Cookies and Cream. Others are Corn Queso, Chocolate with Cashew, Langka Cheese Cashew, and their bestseller Cheese Cashew Macapuno.

I almost tried every flavor but the Cheese Cashew Macapuno really stood out from the rest though I can spend an ample time consuming a cup of each. The combo has whole cashew nuts and macapuno that were really evident in its texture. The quality of the frozen product can be compared (and even surpassed) the different ice cream brands being distributed around the country. Plus, a cup will only cost you Php 10. Indeed a must try when you are in the province.
