Instagram also serves as one of my travel journals in my quest to explore the Philippines by utilizing the photo sharing application to document my trips. It’s the last week of the year and the best way to end it is to look back on the past 52 weeks and listing down the most liked Instagram posts of 2014 on my account.
HERE ARE MY FAMOUS INSTAGRAM POSTS OF 2014
10. THE LIGHTNING THIEF
A thunder storm one evening forced me to perch my tripod and tried to capture the furious lightning. Settled on the second floor of grannies house, I caught a picture of the striking volt.
9. ANTIQUE COLLAGE
With 80 likes, the collage of some photos taken during the Antique Grand Tour last February also made it to the top 10. The collage depicts the amazing landscape, history, culture and heritage, and food of the Antiqueños. DIY Itinerary here.
8. AHAW NATURAL ARCH, BATANES
The great weather in Sabtang Island enabled me to take a nice snapshot of the most photographed spot in the island, the Ahaw Natural Arch located in Morong Beach. Attractions of Sabtang Island, Batanes, can be found here.
7. SUNSET IN PANGASINAN
I stayed in Pangasinan during summer and capturing the scenic moment of the setting sun was one of the things I did. I didn’t expect that a simple photo will get dozens of likes.
6. RANDOM PHOTO IN SABTANG
Regular sights for the locals are astounding for us. We asked the driver to stop every time we passed by a picturesque view while circumnavigating the island. Batanes itinerary and expenses here.
5. LOCALS IN WHITE ISLAND, CAMIGUIN
Bored, we decided to leave White Island. We basked under the heat of the sun, and sampled fresh sea urchins. Locals busy preparing their fishing gear as our boat moved toward mainland Camiguin. Weekend in Camiguin here.
4. MANTIGUE ISLAND NATURE PARK, CAMIGUIN
Marine sanctuaries are not that wonderful as expected, yet roaming around the island and having a short forest trail will give you an enjoyable visit to the island nature park.
3. SURFING IN SAN JUAN, LA UNION
Everyone holding a surfboard patiently waited for a wave to ride on. The stretch of the beach in San Juan, La Union serves as haven for surfers as well as a venue to cool down the intense heat of summer. Surfing in San Juan, La Union.
2. RUINS OF SPANISH WATCH TOWER IN LUNA, LA UNION
I walked from Luna proper to the coastline which locals call as their baluarte. A ruined Spanish watch tower is situated along the pebbled coastline of the municipality. The pebbles (stone/rock) are being collected and segregated into different kinds and colors. Lustrous Luna.
1. MARANUM FALLS, NATIVIDAD, PANGASINAN
On top the list of most liked photos on my Instagram this 2014 is the waterfall in Natividad, Pangasinan. The destination is not that promoted by the provincial tourism and just knew about it through friends. The tourist attraction has potential to market as one of the nature attractions of Pangasinan.
That’s it for 2014. More photos will come to you this 2015. You can follow my trips and escapades on my Instagram account @rjdexplorer. Follow and like!!!
