The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag in Pangasinan is one of the Philippines’ most visited pilgrimage sites in Northern Luzon. Pilgrims visit this religious site to seek prayers, blessings, and healing from the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary. I also know a few friends who made sure to visit Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag and ask for guidance as part of their preparation for the board exams. So, how to commute to Manaoag? Here’s a guide to help you.
During peak seasons, such as the first Sunday of the year, first Sunday of the month, and Holy Week, expect large crowds. The heavy traffic, combined with limited parking near the basilica, often leads regular visitors to opt for public transport. Commuting not only helps avoid traffic but also eliminates the hassle of parking.
Since schedules may change, always check directly with bus companies or refer to Facebook groups for updates.

Safety Tips
While visiting the basilica, it’s important to stay vigilant. Due to the large crowds, there is a higher chance of encountering pickpockets or scammers. Always keep an eye on your belongings, especially in busy areas like the church complex and nearby markets. Additionally, keep a close watch on your children and companions, as large groups of people may accidentally separate you. To avoid this, it’s a good idea to set meeting points in case you get separated and establish a plan to reunite.
Before leaving the church, make sure to try the different versions of puto, a local rice cake delicacy. You’ll find a variety of sellers offering puto kutchinta and other versions of the regular puto. There are also tupig, local rice cakes, and seasonal fruits that make great pasalubongs. Whenever I’m in Manaoag, it’s a family tradition to drop by the local eateries on the right side of the church (when facing the church’s facade) to enjoy a bowl of sotanghon soup. It’s the perfect way to cap off the visit.
A visit to Our Lady of Manaoag is more than just a physical journey; it’s a spiritual experience. Whether you choose to travel by direct bus or take an alternative route via Urdaneta or Binalonan, planning ahead can make your pilgrimage more enjoyable and stress-free. With multiple commuting options available, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with avoiding traffic and parking woes. By taking the time to check schedules and prepare for the journey, your trip to Manaoag can be a fulfilling and meaningful experience.
