Cafe by the Ruins

BENGUET | FOOD TRIP: Cafe by the Ruins

A must visit and the most loved restaurant in Baguio City is Cafe by the Ruins located at Chuntug Street fronting the Baguio City hall. The place serves breakfast meals from coffee to bread, and rice meals which are Cordilleran inspired.

UPDATE: Cafe by the Ruins in Chuntug Street fronting the Baguio City Hall already closed its doors a few months ago. Please see comments from a managing partner of the restaurant below.

I ordered an Arabica Coffee and a croissant. The Arabica coffee is served with muscovado sugar, a shot of fresh milk and a piece of balikutsa. Balikutsa is an Ilocano local candy which is ultra sweet made from cooked, molten and sticky sugar cane molasses prolonged white and “curled.” The balikutsa sweetened the very strong Arabica coffee and blends perfectly with the croissant.

  1. Hi! Just wanted to say that I stumbled on your blog not to long ago and I really enjoyed your review as well as your photos. I used one image of yours for our social media accounts that you can see on instagram and facebook. I didn’t get a chance to formally ask your permission to use you photo but I did make sure to credit your blog for the beautiful photo.
