It was a boring Saturday morning at home and I was browsing my phone when I opened the Hotel Quickly app. It’s a new app for last-minute hotel booking that offers up to 70% off on hotel and resort rates on top destinations in the country and abroad. You can download the app for iOS and Android. To get a USD15 off on your first booking, redeem my code AABEL1. I’m eyeing for Tune Hotels Cebu but when I checked its rate, it was almost just the same with Cebu Parklane International Hotel.

Parklane Plus room for a weekend.

Guess what, for a matter of an hour from completing a reservation, I find myself in the lobby of Cebu Parklane International Hotel located at the corner of Archbishop Reyes Avenue and Escario Street, near Ayala Center Cebu. The majestic lobby has several couches to lounge on while waiting for your room. A diorama depicting some historical landmarks and tourist attractions in the city is situated just below the stairs.

Frontdesk and the diorama of sights in Cebu.

The frontdesk was so busy when I arrived and I just queued for 10 minutes to check-in. I requested for a room with one queen-sized bed since I was alone and the frontdesk officer was able to get me a Parklane Plus room on the 15th floor. After I handed her the Php1000 deposit, she gave me my electronic keycard and told me that the room will be ready in 15 minutes and instructed me to avail my welcome drink at Manuel’s Restaurant while waiting.

After consuming the refreshing drink, I went back to the frontdesk and was informed that I can now proceed to my room. Elevators are keycard-access controlled so you can only go to your assigned floor, aside from the common floors. My keycard didn’t work and went back to the frontdesk twice just to reactivate it.

Parklane Plus room was impressive having a warm and homey ambience thanks to the lampshades. Before checking other in-room facilities, I went immediately to the bathroom and was literally surprised to find a bathtub. Equipped with hot and cold shower on a hand-held and overhead spouts, toiletries like foam bath, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower caps, soaps, razor, dental and vanity kits. Don’t forget the shaving mirror, and hair-dryer.

Going back to the fully air-conditioned room, aside from the bed of course, are IDD/NDD phone with directory, cable-enabled television, coffee and tea making facility, a mini-bar, a working desk, a mini living room set, and a closet housing the safe. I’m on the fifteenth floor but the view from my room is still obstructed by the nearby Mandarin Hotel.

Wifi is a plus because every room is given a complimentary log-in which is good for 3 days. Not that fast but I can say it was stable and can sustain your social media needs. I was on bed all afternoon with the TV dabbled from Lifestyle Network to Asian Food Channel. One problem I had was with the bed which is kinda hard as well as the pillows. Nonetheless, I had an astounding 8-hr sleep.

American Breakfast (Php250++).

The reservation on Hotel Quickly didn’t include free breakfast and I decided to go with the ala carte meals over the buffet breakfast. Cebu Parklane has 3 restaurants: Manuel’s Restaurant on the lobby and where the buffet breakfast is being served, Bean Date still on the ground floor for desserts and pastries, and Kan-anan Restaurant on the 4th floor near the pool that offers authentic Cebuano cuisine.

Classy area to lounge, Bean Date.

There are four breakfast options available in Manuel’s: Filipino (Php250), Continental (Php200), American (Php250), and Hawaiian (Php250). I was stoked by the Filipino set because of the danggit and longganisa but I wasn’t able to resist the bacon on the American platter. American platter includes a choice of fresh fruit or chilled juice, two eggs, choice of bacon, ham, or sausages, toast with butter, jam, and marmalade, and brewed coffee or hot chocolate (sikwate). I was disappointed by the toasted bacon, and the cold bread wasn’t able to melt the butter. In addition, the sikwate was unsweetened that I was forced to put all the sugar packets available on the table.

The pool during night time and the jacuzzi.

I went immediately to the fourth floor, where the pool is, after I had a considerably okay breakfast at Manuel’s. Thank God the facility wasn’t crowded that moment so I was able to enjoy the jacuzzi, alone. There are limited number of lounge chairs near the pool. After the jacuzzi experience, I tried the very inviting 4.5-feet swimming pool. Families coming from the restaurant slowly flocked the area so I decided to take a shower and leave. For some muscle workouts, the gym is a plus plus.

Overall, my stay at Cebu Parklane International Hotel was a decent way to satisfy the desire of a staycation on a plush accommodation considering that I availed it on a cheaper price using the Hotel Quickly app. By the way, the frontdesk officer, during check-in, asked my address and was shocked when I mentioned an address just 10 minutes away from the hotel. Well, that’s the perk of having Hotel Quickly installed on my smartphone.
