Despite the name, Cocoon Inn Hanoi requires their guest to go out of their capsule beds to mingle with other travelers or explore the enthralling neighborhood of Hanoi Old Quarter. The hostel is near the weekend night market and clustered with stalls selling irresistible stuff to bring home as souvenirs. You can find yourself filling tiny spaces in your luggage during your stay.
The accommodating and lively staff of the hostel provides a refreshing vibe to arriving guests. They can suggest places to visit and try Hanoi food while in the city. Interactions between staff and guests go beyond the check-in and check-out encounters. The working staff is helpful enough to attend every need may it be on finding day trips and activities, laundry, or navigating the local transport.
Cocoon Inn Hanoi has six floors providing dormitory and private rooms. Breakfast area, bar, and reception on the first floor, lounge with the second, luggage storage on the third, additional common toilets and shower on the fifth, and rooftop garden on the topmost floor.
Cocoon Inn Dorm Rooms
Reservation I got was placed in the shared room on the 7th floor. Each bed in the 16-bed air-conditioned room is equipped with an above-normal mattress, pillow and duvet covered with brown cases, fully-covered with a curtain, a personal fan, reading light, two universal power sockets, a USB port, and a foldable desk. My bunk, letter F, near the wall has an added space where you could place some of your stuff.
If you have valuables, the lockers have the luxury of space that can store large luggage or tall backpacks. The locker is separated from the beds by your assigned space accessed by an RFID card securing your valuables. Shower and toilet, on the mentioned level, is on the rear end of the floor and can be accessed through a separate door.
Rooftop Garden
Another thing that travelers consider while on the road is to spend a little time away from the busy scenes of the destination. If you get tired with the chaotic streets of Hanoi, Cocoon Inn has a rooftop garden good enough for some quietude while enjoying the city view from above. Ornamental plants were added to each post that makes the artificial lawn looks natural. A part of its roofing is open making it a disadvantage when it rains. Nonetheless, it’s a perfect spot if you’re introvert to talk with other travelers lounging on the bar.
Bar and Lounge
Speaking of bar, Cocoon Inn Hanoi has its own bar on the ground level serving beverages from cocktails to heavy drinks. For a minimum of VND40,000, you can have a booze that can ignite conversations with other travelers during happy hour. A buy-one-take-on stub for drinks is given to all guests checking in. You can redeem this during happy hour to prolong your poisons. Some of the beverages available are Long Island Iced Tea, Kamikaze shots, and Asian margarita.
Breakfast
Checked-in guests can avail their free breakfast set at the bar. Approach one of the crews and ask for the order form. The options available are pancakes, noodles, and bread. In addition to the set meals, you can enjoy a cup of tea or Vietnamese coffee amplified by the sweet condensed milk. At times, you can also find a basket of bananas where you could grab one for free. The only disadvantage is the availability of space to eat because of the limited number of tables in the lounge.
Other Facilities and Services
Apart from dormitory rooms, Cocoon Inn has few private rooms ranging from USD30-35. If you need airport pick-up, just head to the hostel’s website and book a schedule. The available car types can accommodate from 4 up to 10 passengers. For tour needs, hostel staff manning the tour desk can suggest options from the likes of Halong Bay cruise to countryside trips to Ninh Binh, and Sapa Trekking.
