When you craved for pizza and by chance, you’re in Baguio City and asked for a local restaurant, most likely you’ll get Pizza Volante as an answer. It is just located along Session Road and serves pizzas away from your usual commercialized pizza parlors.
And when I say pizzas, I mean a lot of choices. To name a few are the Pepperoni Mushroom, Kenny George, Marengo, Smoked Salmon, Tuna, Bolognese, Chili con Carne, and a lot more! Pizzas are on 6 to 14 inches and prices for as low as Php 60 up to 640.
Well, customers will be bored if they only offer pizza so you can also try their delish pasta such as pesto, alfredo, putanesca, spaghetti with meatballs, shrimp or pomodoro. And of course, they also have desserts like Apple Pie, Cheese Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Banana Split, and Choco Vanilla Affair.
Pizza Volante is open 24 hours and to accommodate customers, they have two levels of dining area. A large menu board is available over their counter at the lower level where all available pizza flavors are written as well as the prices per size. Since I was alone, I ordered a 6-inch Pizza Marengo.
Pizza Marengo has chicken chunks, mushrooms, onions, olives, and bell peppers topped with mozzarella cheese that was oven-baked into perfection. The chicken chunks were really succulent while the natural sweetness of the caramelized vegetables blended so well. I actually prefer thin crust pizzas but I can’t say no to a pizza loaded with toppings like Pizza Marengo.
Baguio City has a lot of local restaurants and failing to try them and having your meals in some overrated fast-food chains is not a well-worth experience. Pizza Volante is one of them that really offers travelers and tourists a unique flavor of Baguio City.
