Pahiyas Festival was probably one of the most stressful festivals I’ve ever attended. Food establishments were not prepared with the influx of tourists, and most of all, traffic management was at its worst. It is a bad idea to attend the festival when the schedule falls on a weekend. Expect that a lot of people want to visit the decorated houses along some streets of Lucban.
With all the hassles of commuting from Lucban to Lucena to Manila for almost 7 hours, I arrived in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 six hours prior to my flight back to Cebu. Experiencing the long walks, queues, and travel we needed to survive that day, I wanted to take a rest even just for a couple of hours. I’ve once experienced staying on some bench dedicated for passengers who still can’t proceed inside the departure area because check-in time for their flight is not yet available.
Idea of trying it again won’t answer my dilemma. I remember a lounge in that terminal so I started searching for its location. I found from Google that the The Wings Transit Lounge is located in the 4th level of the mall area, near McDonalds.
Checking the available facilities, The Wings offer lounge, capsule rooms, twin and family rooms, and massage services for guests. Lounge and rooms rates include unlimited finger food buffet, hot and cold drinks, luggage storage, shower amenities (except for Lounge only guests), and free WiFi connection.
Capsule room rate is at Php1000 for a maximum stay up to 7.5 hours. There are two separate capsule quarters for male and female travelers. Each capsule room has a sliding shade for you to maintain your privacy and also to avoid from light and crowd. A security box for your valuable items and a reading lamp are also available.
Twin rooms (good for 2, obviously) and Family rooms (up to 4 occupants) utilize bunk beds and provide comforts for people traveling with friends or families. If you’re just after some massage to soothe those muscles from the tiresome flight before proceeding on your next flight, the lounge also offers massage with rates Php350 for 30 minutes, Php550 for 45 minutes, and Php650 for an hour. For ladies who plan to get some foot spa, pedicure, or manicure while waiting for flights, The Wings will be your friend.
For the food, they have quite good offerings such as breads, cookies, pastries, soup, and hot and cold beverages. The coffee vending machine offers caramel macchiato, cappuccino, mocha, premium roast, and hot Milo drinks. Lemonade and iced tea are also available.
They have separate toilet and shower for males and females. Facilities are properly maintained with each having a powder room apart from the shower and toilet cubicles. Bath towel is provided as well as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste.
Great news for BDO Diamond cardholders because The Wings Transit Lounge has an area dedicated for cardholders and also gives the perks of availing the food buffet, assortment of beverages, shower room, luggage area, and Free Wifi connection. That lounge offers lifestyle and travel magazines for some readings, viewing from a flat screen television, and each of the seats having its own reading lamp.
Availing a room or a lounge seat from The Wings Transit Lounge is undeniably a good option than having your time on some cold metal seats in the terminal. For travelers with connecting flights, traffic in Metro Manila is tormenting that going out of the airport terminal just to stay in some lodging houses and hotels is not a convenient alternative. The Wings Transit Lounge provides comforts for travelers who usually disturbed by the crowds, or those who over think of being left by their flights, like I do.
