HOKKAIDO | Warm Atmosphere of ibis Styles Sapporo

It started to snow when I landed in New Chitose Airport and it was both a nice and bad thing. Nice, because it will be my first winter experience; and bad, due to the fact that I wasn’t prepared for the cold weather. Luckily, ibis Styles Sapporo is just a block from one of the exits of Nakajima-Koen subway station. I swift to the hotel the moment I got out of the subway station sparing me from another frosting episode.

I’ve stayed on several Accor Hotels and one thing is always sure, the convenience of the guests is a top priority. May it be Novotel, Mercure, or ibis, booking a reservation with them will surely ease you on your travels.

Freezing temperature outdoors made me enjoy the warm atmosphere of the hotel. It extends to how the staff accommodated me on my arrival. Upon showing them my passport, they immediately searched and confirmed my reservation. Asked me to complete and sign the check-in form, and informed me that room will be available at 2 PM. Nonetheless, the staff offered to store my backpack just in case I have plans of exploring while waiting for check-in time.

I fixed my stuff at the waiting lounge and just get the important stuff transferred to my daypack. After several minutes, a front-desk officer approached all groups at the lobby, including me. She handed our keycards and informed us that rooms are now ready.

Hotel Accommodations

ibis Styles Sapporo has superior and deluxe rooms. Versions of superior include two single beds, two twin beds, and king bed. On the other hand, deluxe rooms have more options with two single beds, two twin beds, king bed, family, and plus 1 king bed. I got a deluxe twin bedroom and I was stunned how spacious the 33 square meter room is.

Complimentary Breakfast

Breakfast included on the room rates are served buffet style at Sapporo Kitchen on the second floor of the hotel. The buffet breakfast starts at 6 in the morning until 10:30 to accommodate guests who wanted to sleep until late morning. I love how the buffet spread introduce local dishes and ingredients despite the brand having an international concept. You can savor the unique flavors of Hokkaido by enjoying the breakfast that ibis Styles Sapporo offers.

Some of the food I enjoyed during my 3-day buffet experience are the mackerel, tamago (fried egg), fried lotus stem, miso soup, and the Hokkaido yogurt. To accommodate the western taste, they offer sausages, ham, and bacon and lots of bread. Several beverages such as coffee, milk, and juices are also available.
