Every Friday when we crave for barbeque and other grilled foods, cakes and pastries, the direction we’re taking after work is the road to the Midnight Mercato in Bonifacio Global City. The place is located just across MC Depot along 34th Street and 8 Avenue which operates every Fridays and Saturdays from 10 PM to 3 AM in the morning. I’ve already gone there thrice and will still go to satisfy my tenga ng baboy (pork ears) barbeque cravings. By browsing the site of Mr. Anton Diaz, co-founder of the weekend night market, I found out that there is also a separate weekend day market in BGC which was started way back in November 2010.
Morning Mercato Centrale is a weekend lifestyle market that operates every Saturdays and Sundays from 7 AM to 2 PM. They are back at their original location at the corner of 30th Street and 9th Avenue near Bonifacio High Street and across Serendra. The difference between the Midnight Mercato and the Morning Mercato is the availability of organic and naturals products on the latter.
I want to experience the morning Mercato so, from a nice sleep, I woke up late morning of Saturday (please understand that I have a 2-11 PM work shift) and left to Bonifacio Global City. I arrived at the market minutes before 1 PM. There are fewer concessionaires compared to the Midnight Mercato that you can easily go around the array of booths to look for foods and products.
First to attract my attention is Bagnet Republic with their specialty bagnet, pork sisig, and bicol express. Since I haven’t had my lunch that time, I ordered a serving of bagnet with rice. I found out from the staff that they are also a regular vendor in the Midnight Mercato.
Already bought my meal for lunch and the next thing was to buy a drink. I passed by Gold Leaf Tea For You and a staff offered me a free taste of their milk tea. The tea tasted normal but you can add for Baileys. The booth also offers Citrus Tea in different flavors such as guava and black tea. I also purchased my favorite “tenga ng baboy” barbeque at Php30 at the grilled station.
Sorry for the pictures because I didn’t have the chance to take more because the booths were already packing since the weekend market closes at 2 PM. You can avail lots of free taste test here with the different booths gladly offering you every time you walk in front of their booths. Runners, bikers, and Senior Citizens can also avail a free “Healthy Coffee”.
