sagada Yoghurt House

MOUNTAIN PROVINCE | Where to Eat in Sagada: Yoghurt House

I didn’t plan to spend more on food from my budget when I visited Sagada since I’m targeting a certain amount. But what can I do when a place being checked out by most tourists visiting the area invites me to try their cuisines? Together with new found friends Au, Karen and CJ, we had dinner in the famous Yoghurt House. When it comes to restaurant suggestions, it is the most recommended one.

Yoghurt Favorites: Banana, Granola, Strawberry Preserves (Php 95) and Banana with Strawberry (Php 85).

When you check the restaurant, it’s not that big but has two floors for dining. Actually, you won’t notice the place immediately since it looks like a typical house in Sagada having the small restaurant signage name.

The first floor has only 4 sets of tables and chairs that can only accommodate 20 people I think. Different portraits depicting the history and culture of Sagada were framed and displayed on the walls. Native decorations were also used to design the lighting source which made the mood of the place warmer to compliment with the weather outside.

A fireplace, didn’t check if working, is also located at the corner of the floor. I didn’t get the opportunity to check out the second floor, but as viewed from the road, a couple of chairs are placed on a narrow balcony.

Wines, eh?

The counter looks so expensive with the different brands of wine, gin, brandy and other liquors on a cabinet behind it.

Three Decker Tuna Sandwich (Php 90) with Tuna, Egg, Cheese, Tomato, Lettuce and Mayo.

Their menu features Starters, Salads, Vegetables, Pasta, Sandwiches to Chicken, Pork and Beef Courses and their specialty Yoghurt Favorites. They also serve drinks such as hot tea, brewed coffee, soft drinks, juice, beer, and wine.

Baked Chicken with Potato Rosti and Vegetable Salad (Php 200).

I ordered Baked Chicken with Potato Rosti and Vegetable Salad while my companions had Pork in Bechamel Sauce, garden salad and rice, Mushroom Pasta and Three Decker Tuna Sandwich.

Pork in Bechamel Sauce with Garden Salad and Rice (Php 220).

Mushroom Cheese Pasta (Php 150).

For my Baked Chicken, I didn’t find it so excellent due to the taste of the chicken which I think was not seasoned properly. Also, the potato rosti was not cooked properly and had so much oil on it. But I loved their vegetable salad with their own yogurt as vinaigrette.

They also sell Lemon Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Au and Karen also tried their famous yogurts: Banana with Strawberry and Banana, Granola with Strawberry Preserves. Based on their verdict, the favorites are delicious if you are into eating unflavored yogurts because of its authentic sour taste.

Overall, I also enjoyed the dining experience although the taste of the food was not so great, Yoghurt House is still a nice place to have lunch or dinner with friends while enjoying the cold weather of Sagada.
