TARLAC | Rainy Weekend Stay at Microtel Luisita Tarlac

It was a stressful week at work for me with 2 4-hour trainings, weekly updates and generation of daily reports. What I needed was a total relaxation and peace of mind. Luckily, Microtel Luisita Tarlac which is just 3 hours away from Manila offers both.

The signature American-colonial inspired architecture of Microtel Luisita Tarlac.

I left Victory Liner Pasay around 10AM and arrived about 1PM at Plaza Luisita Center having some retail outlets and restaurants. I had late lunch before proceeding to Microtel Luisita Tarlac which is a just meters away from the national road. Just in time for the standard check-in time of the hotel which is 2PM.

The bed that magnetizes everyone to have a nice nap/sleep.

I was welcomed by a courteous staff who led me to the hotel’s lobby. The next moment after the staff at the front desk verified the reservation, I found myself quietly and astoundingly sleeping on their bed with chiropractor-approved mattress. I really love to lie on the bed that always magnetizes me to have a good and nice sleep.

The stay was my third time in the Microtel Wyndham chain of hotels. Unlike my Baguio and Cabanatuan stay where I spent the night in a double room, I finally tried their single room. Room amenities are almost the same with that of the double room minus one bed. It is still good for 2 with the huge queen-sized bed.

Room amenities: Multifunctional telephone system (IDD and NDD), radioclock and fresh and clean towels on left.

Since it was raining, I spent the whole afternoon inside the room, on the bed and watching movies on the cable television. I also did catch up with my pending blog posts. Lowering the temperature on the air-conditioning unit added the laziness feeling to the “bed weather.”

I woke up around 6 in the evening and the best way to beat the cold weather was having a hot soup for dinner. Matutina’s Restaurant is a 10-minute drive from the hotel that offers varieties of seafood, pork, beef and chicken dishes. Sir Roy and Sir Ace let me experience the best sellers of the place by ordering Sinigang na Isda (Malaga), Adobong Talaba (Oyster), Pork Sisig, Grilled Bangus Belly and Liempo. Highlight of the sumptuous meal was the Adobong Talaba which was really appetizing. It was my first time to try an oyster dish because what we usually do is eating it fresh from its shell. All stew/soup dishes are great for me.

Although I just wanted to relax, I can’t resist my eagerness to check my social media accounts online thanks to the Wi-fi connection of the hotel. You can have the Wi-fi password at the front desk but if ever you forgot to ask for it, you can dial “0” on the multi-function telephone system to contact the people there. I continued watching TV shows on local channels on the TV that was perfectly placed above the wooden cabinet just right when you’re on the bed with the blanket fully wrapped on your body.

As expected, I fell asleep immediately and woke up around 8 in the morning. The restaurant of the hotel is expected to open before the month ends so complimentary buffet breakfast is still being served in the lobby. Meals served were traditional Filipino breakfast food: sausages, tocino, chicken nuggets, and sardines together with some bread and banana. National broadsheets are also offered while sipping your unlimited hot coffee or cold pineapple/orange juice available from the vending machines.

After having breakfast, we visited the nearby Aquino Center. It houses some memorabilia of then-Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino and Former President Corazon Aquino. The museum also features the role played by the couple in restoring the freedom of the country from a dictatorial government during Martial Law. We also dropped by the Luisita Golf and Country Club and the Luisita Industrial Park where some corporations such as International Wiring Systems, Universal Robina Corporation, and Sanyo Semiconductor Mfg. are located.

Room features and amenities are the chiropractor-approved mattresses, cable television, multi-function telephone system with IDD and NDD, toilet and hot and cold shower, radio clock, fully automated fire system, electronic keycard entry system, window seat, cabinet and a working desk. Additional features for suite rooms are coffee/tea making facilities, refrigerator, microwave oven, kitchen counter with sink, sofa sleeper, and a bathtub.

Clean toilet and hot and cold shower available.

The hotel also has a meeting room, 24-hour vending area, WiFi internet access, non-smoking and disability accessible rooms and an ample parking space.

Nearby tourist destinations aside from the Aquino Museum are Mount Pinatubo, Capas Shrine, Monasterio de Tarlac while adventure activities include whitewater kayaking in San Jose, trekking to Anzap twin falls and hiking some mountains in the province.

Even though I wasn’t able to explore some tourist attractions nearby due to the weather; I was revitalized by my stay in Microtel Luisita Tarlac since I spent most of the time inside my room sleeping. They say that what you see 3 times is really true. For my third time in the chain of hotels, aside from the great hotel experience, members of the management together with the staff are very accommodating. They will attend to you for any assistance needed plus I love the way they greet and smile to all their guests. Overall, Microtel Luisita Tarlac is a perfect place to stay in the province if you’re after a very comfortable, relaxing and worry-free stay.
