PALAWAN | Where to Stay in Coron: Daven’s Palace and Centro Coron

During my visit to Coron, aside from my not-so-good overnight stay at Coron Backpacker Guesthouse, I was able to spend a night in Daven’s Palace and another one in Centro Coron. Early morning of my second day in town, I went directly to Daven’s Palace to leave my things before proceeding to Calamianes Expedition quarters for the island hopping activity.

DAVEN’S PALACE

I was welcomed by a friendly staff of the hotel. The lobby is not that wide having only a table where guests can have their transactions, a sofa while waiting for the check-in time, and another table with their supply for the free unlimited coffee and water. The large tarpaulin with sorts of messages by guests on a wall caught my attention. I read some and they expressed how they really enjoyed their stay in Daven’s.

After the staff handed my room key, he led me to my room, Room I. Rooms here were named A to L, twelve rooms from Deluxe Single/Double (4 rooms), Deluxe Triple Sharing (1 room), Family Room Mountain View (4 rooms) and Family Room Road Side (3 rooms).

The room that was given to me was located on the lower ground of the hotel. The room was so cozy with the bed lower compared to the standard height which I really liked. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, with flat screen cable television, cabinet, private toilet and bath equipped with hot and cold shower.

In terms of location, the hotel is located near at the jump-off point to the viewing deck of Mount Tapyas. Considering the town proper, Daven’s Palace is 5-8 minute walk away from the national road but it is a great choice if you’re after a perfect place to relax and enjoy your stay in Coron.

When I arrived at the hotel after dinner, I opened the television but no signal was found. I asked the staff at the front desk to help me with the tuning. He found out that the cable chord is not in good condition anymore so he replaced it with one. The position of the television that was mounted on the wall was really great when you’re on the bed.

The complimentary breakfast that comes with the room rates can be availed at Centro Coron, which is a little far from the place. I think it is better for the guests to have their meal at the hotel instead. But I’m sure the management already has plans to remedy the situation. Other services being offered by the hotel are massage, tour arrangements, van and motor rental, laundry services and airport transfers.

CENTRO CORON

Since the complimentary breakfast, courtesy of Daven’s Palace was being served in Centro Coron, I already got my things when I left the place. My Malcapuya Tour was scheduled to start at 8 in the morning and since it wasn’t time for checking in, I just left my things on the very accommodating staff of Centro Coron.

I was drenched from the island hopping tour since we were caught in a heavy rain on our way back to the port. I eagerly went to Centro Coron to have a bath and dry myself. However, power was interrupted in the whole town and the power back-up of the hotel had some trouble. It was about 15 minutes before they solved the issue.

For the rooms, they have several rooms that can accommodate 1-2 persons (Single Bedroom), 2-4 persons (Double Bedroom) and groups up to 6 persons (Family bedroom). The room I got has an air-conditioning unit but I didn’t found any remote and it was placed too high on the wall. I was already satisfied with their stand fan. Nonetheless, I had an astounding sleep during that night.

Toilet is well maintained but water supply is a little too low. Bath is also equipped with hot and cold shower. Aside from that, staff was very much helpful to assist you in whatever you need. They were the one who contacted the shuttle service who picked me up at the hotel going back to Busuanga Airport.
