Some business establishments started on an idea that was laid out on marketing plans and perfectly followed the different how to’s to success. While for some, it begins when a group of people shares a common interest. One of them is Kart City Tarlac (KCT) started to operate in May of 2003 and was named basically because the people behind it love karting.
Why karting? It was the time when the group of Pio Arugay got hook into the Formula 1 fever and sharing the love for speed initiated them to build a racetrack in Tarlac City. Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen were famous during those times. The race track served as a place for them to perk up their driving skills while enjoying what they love.
Every time people nearby hear the loud engine sounds of the karts; they gather by the racetrack and watch the group circuit around the course. People who are coming to watch the group asked if there are available snacks that they can munch while enjoying the race, this led them to open a convenience store. In addition, they inquired if they can also ride and experience the karts, from then, they offered kart rentals. This was when the group began to see a new venture and the birth of Kart City Tarlac.
The place is now a one stop spot in Tarlac City offering fun, entertainment and food. The colorful and catchy signage of KCT along McArthur Highway is hard to miss. It was a Friday night and the place was jam-packed from their Chaps Café and Diner to their Trackside Grill. Part of the event that night was to try karting and have some videoke session with the Tara Quing Tarlac group.
After we settled our things in one of the family lounges, that can accommodate a maximum of 30 people, we proceeded to the trackside for the short briefing. An instructional video was shown to everyone discussing all the do’s and don’ts of karting. We also signed a waiver before hitting the course.
I’m not into driving and it was my first time to ride a kart. I was hesitant at first anticipating what might happen on the racetrack, I didn’t want to end the day with bruises. However, it turned out to be an exhilarating experience, step on the gas to accelerate and on the brake during some sharp curves. Five laps weren’t enough but their Chaps Family Lounge Entertainment Rooms has tons of songs to sing. Next thing happened: me singing an Alex band song.
Aside from fun and entertainment, KCT also offers great food. We tried their pizza, mini tacos and a basket of crispy fried chicken and fries while some members of the group dance to the tune of whoever is holding the microphone. Indeed a great night in Tarlac City.
“We make it a point to listen to what our customers need and want,” says Sir Pio. “Our decisions on pleasuring or satisfying them are one of the factors of how the developments go about.” When asked about any future plans with Kart City Tarlac, “We just intend to keep our customers satisfied and any expansion to be made will definitely enhance Kart City’s status as a one stop shop for entertainment and fun,” he added.
