Inspired by Nickelodeon’s character, Dora the Explorer, where every episode entails embarking on a new adventure, this blog serves as a chronicle of my wanderings. Whether it’s exploring ancient churches, engaging with locals, sampling local cuisines, or lodging in anything from backpacker hostels to luxurious resorts, each experience is documented under the tagline “iWander. iExperience. iKwento” – a mantra reflecting the discovery, firsthand experience, and sharing of the world’s beauty.
My journey into travel blogging began in September 2012 after a trip to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Venturing beyond mainland Luzon for the first time, I was captivated by the raw beauty of nature, igniting a passion to share these experiences. Exploring the city, attending events, visiting museums, and landmarks became my norm during weekends. A solo trip to Ilocos before the close of 2012 solidified my wanderlust, propelling me to continually seek new adventures.
Who is RJDEXPLORER?
I’m RJ, an adventure-junkie hailing from Pangasinan and currently rooted in its soil. Embracing remote work grants me the freedom to traverse new territories, though the extensive collection of a thousand Aroid species limits my excursions to no more than a fortnight.
My overseas travels commenced in July 2016, normally on two-week sojourns. By 2017, I resigned from my work in Cebu, embarking on a 100-day odyssey through Southeast Asia. From the vibrant streets of Singapore to the tranquil rice fields of Vietnam, each destination infused me with a unique perspective. Japan holds a special place in my heart for its rich cultural tapestry, delectable cuisine, and breathtaking landscapes. Among Philippine provinces, Batanes and Tawi-tawi stand as unparalleled gems, though I’m steadily ticking off visits to every corner of the archipelago.
Photography is both a passion and a skill in progress, serving as a means to capture fleeting moments and evoke emotions. Through storytelling, I find solace and self-expression, sharing my adventures to inspire others. With a thirst for exploration driving me, I aspire to traverse not only the scenic wonders of my homeland but also the vast expanses of our globe.
